Hi Alex,

I just 'tripped over' the fact that Q3 has reached beta 2 - as of some time in April, but I don't have my registered upgrade version yet. Hmmm. Have I missed out on something somewhere?

Oh, another point! Quest docs in 'chm' format are all very nice and that but I prefer to print out the reference material and have it alongside my PC when I work, I find that a much better option. (HTML help is awful to print from - very messy results)

Before I hack the chm to bits and reformat it as pdf or something suitable for printing - any chance that a printable version of the docs will be forthcoming?

regards,

Al

A mail about Quest Pro 3.0 Beta 2 was sent out via the axesoftware-questpro-beta Yahoo! Group on April 11th. I seem to recall you had trouble with receiving mail from Yahoo! Groups (formerly eGroups) before - perhaps you or AOL has some kind of bulk mail filter set up?

As for the reference guide I only have the source HTML files to the CHM, and those are easily obtainable by decompiling the CHM (though I can make the source HTML available separately if you wish). I don't have the time or resources to make a PDF version, although I could conceivably paste everything into a big Word document. What do you think would be best?

I don't have an e-mail filter set up, and as far as I know AOL doesn't - but having said that I used to get ALAN mailing list stuff when I was on AOL 5.0, that stopped around the time I changed to AOL 6.0... hmmm!

I can do that myself, so I shall proceed accordingly!

I don't think it matters exactly how it's done, so I shall cobble up a PDF file of the docs. If you have no objection I can make the pdf version available to anyone else who wants a printable version through my 'Quest tips & tricks' page.

Certainly, I have no objection at all.

I have now converted the creating games with Quest part of the 'chm' reference material to an Adobe Acrobat "pdf" file as I suggested I might. This file makes it possible to print out a nice bindable / fileable copy of the reference on A4 paper (using the free Acrobat Reader 4 software.)

I will upload it to my webspace shortly, and it should be possible for any that want it to grab a copy from this link:

www.members.aol.com/agbampton/q284a4.pdf

I've not compressed it - the file isn't very large.

Nice work Alan - I'll put a link up to that when I next update the website (hopefully sometime this week, but then I always say that).
