Quest Syntax Highlighting
This page contains ASL syntax highlighting files for use with TextPad. If you have similar files for use with other text editors, or any other program that may be of use to Quest Developers, please email alex@axeuk.com.
The Syntax Highlighting here works with TextPad 4 and colourises ASL script commands, tags, and parameters to allow you to edit code more easily.
To install ASL syntax highlighting, add ASL.SYN to your TextPad Syntax folder (to find out what this is, start TextPad, go to Configure|Preferences|Folders, then click Syntax), or to the "Samples" folder in the TextPad folder of Program Files.
Next go to Configure|Preferences|New Document Class. Type in "ASL" for the Document Class Name, and click Next. Enter "*.asl" for the class members and click Next. Tick "Enable Syntax Highlighting" and choose ASL.SYN from the drop-down list. Click Next and then click Finish.
Syntax highlighting should now work for any file with a .ASL extension. Colours can be modified by going to Configure|Prefences|Document Classes|ASL|Colors. Keywords 1 specifies the colours of the "define" and "end define" texts at the beginnings and ends of define blocks; Keywords 2 specifie the colours of ASL tags, and Keywords 3 specifies the colours of ASL script commands.
Download ASLSYN.ZIP (containing ASL.SYN).
