Playing Multi-Player Network Games With Quest

Quest lets you connect to a QuestNet server to play multi-player adventure games over a network or the internet.

To play a game on a QuestNet server you may need to just click a particular kind of link on a website, and you'll be able to connect straight away. Otherwise, you first need to know the host address and port number of a server you wish to connect to.

To connect to a QuestNet server, select the "Network" tab on the Quest Start window. Enter your name (or nickname), and the host address. The port number will usually be 10001. You can now add this server to a list of "favourite" servers by clicking on the "Add to list" button, or you can connect immediately by clicking "Connect".

Once connected, you can navigate around the adventure game world in the same way as you would for a normal Quest game.

To speak to other players:

If you find you do more talking than "doing", you can switch on IRC-style commands from the Quest Options window. Then, everything you type will be spoken, except for things you type which begin with a slash "/", which will then be run as commands.

To disconnect, Click "Quest", then "Exit this game".
